It is needless to emphasize the importance of water in our life. Mankind has wide range of water utility activity but direct intake of water for sustenance of life is of prime importance.

Consequently water for different purposes has its own requirements for the composition and purity and each body of water has to be analyzed on a regular basis to confirm to suitability. The types of analysis could vary from simple field testing for a single analysis to laboratory based multi component instrumental analysis.

A large number of toxic pollutants have been detected in drinking and surface waters worldwide, raising concerns about possible impacts on the environment and human health.

To address the issues of water purity, Metallurgical Services has launched a separate division for water analysis of all types of water from ground water to industrial effluents with special emphasis on drinking water.

Water testing is done as per methods prescribed by BIS for all types of water.

In general there are six major groups of parameters necessary to be tested for different kinds of water depending upon their utility for different purposes.
